'Kay,so in case anyone else has this problem,there is a solution.
Just plug in the controller.Done.
You won't be able to move with the Keyboard for some reason,so controller is the only viable option.
...aside from the controller emulation software.

And I was about to hit my head in the wall multiple times thinking the game was corrupted (entirely on that mission) until I saw your post. xD
Thanks for telling the solution -- luckily enough I had a joystick near me.
