visual only mods can only be seen by you since your files are the ones being edited you also wont get banned for these mods(at least i think you dont) any other mod that mods what moves characters have or cheat engine edits will either crash online or result in ban most likely or not let you go online at all. you should be fine with hair mods

They'll see the original models of whatever you model-swapped those mods to look like. For example, if you model-swapped that SSJ4 hair to an accessory, they'll see you wearing that accessory. If you modded it to a different hairstyle, they'll see the original hairstyle that you swapped out. The reason for this is that whenever the game recieves information about another player, they're not receiving any mesh or model information. They're instead receiving a bunch of different item codes that are used to reconstruct the character. Those codes, individually, mean different things to each computer depending on whether or not they were modded. So, for example, when your character is loaded in, the other computer is being told that your character is using "hair 3," for example. The model for "hair 3" on your computer is SSJ4 hair, but on the opponent's unmodded computer, "hair 3" refers to the default hair, because that model and file directory hasn't been edited. So I hope that makes sense. That's the way that it works for all cosmetic changes.
