ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS!
For the last few days, the number of mods steal is growing everyday more and more. To prevent that, we will take more severe actions against it. If it happens more than 1 time, you will be sanctioned (such as warning or ban). As a reminder,(taken from the rules) : 8. Do not steal mods , you need to have permission to use the mods in a video or to put them in a mod pack (after you get the permission, make sure to credit the original creator)
We won't be tolerant about it. It's a serious problem that must come to an end. If you guys want to browse and use the forum in peace, you must follow the rules. That's how it works. Furthermore, if you see any case of mod stealing, do not hesitate to send a PM to one of the admins ( Mastaklo, me, kthxbai, or The Mad Titan). To finish this announcement, I'm asking you to report these links : www.nexusmods.com/dragonballxenoverse/mods/17/?This guy stole a tons of mods of our forum without permission, without giving any credits. Please report it to take down the file and ofcourse DISLIKE his video !
Update- the file and the video was taken down. SO CHEERS
Thanks

I had a mod stolen once... back in the days of skyrim. I didn't really care because it was so easy to make he could've made a better mod in no time.

People are stealing mods now? Wow. Don't steal mods. At least people haven't been stealing them and reposting them on the boards themselves. Right?

I'm very curious as to the rationale behind this rule. Claiming ownership and redistributing I fully get, but putting mods in a video? I don't have any mods up here (yet?), but, especially for mods, once it's out there it's out there. Mods are posted publically for people to use and enjoy, so it seems a bit silly to then want to regulate *how* they are used. Imagine if this were the case with Minecraft or Skyrim mods e.g.
Equally important, I feel like it makes the rule more prone to not being taken seriously.
Of course creators request certain attribution or usage rules, but turning it into a rule seems overkill to me, and lumping it in with stealing just feels like a bad idea all around imho.
Just my $0.02 - sorry to hear this is happening though.

Right now the rule also applies to anyone making gameplay videos for instance. Having to ask permissions from a bunch of mod creators can be prohibative, and generally seems like something that isn't desirable/ shouldn't be needed. I understand wanting to protect your work, believe me, but the pragmatic side of me says this isn't the best way of going about that. Yes, it would be great if video uploader provide attribution and llnk-backs, but if they don't I believe interested people will still google "dragonball xenoverse saiyan armor pan mod" and find the appropriate thread. I hope to upload a mod sometime in the coming month or so, and personally don't really like this prohibitive rule, so I would likely add a line stating "feel free to use, ..., attribution would be appreciated". Perhaps we could leave this kind of licensing to each individual mod creator? The rule could then change to something like: This just feels a lot freer and less restrictive for all parties involved imho! =) Cheers!

Shenron I understand your concern but this is for modders. If a youtuber want to make a video of a mod he wants to showcase , it shouldnt be a problem for them to send the modder a msg saying "hey i like you x mod , can i showcase it?I will credit you" . if you do that its simple enough. the best joy a modder can have is to see other poeple enjoy their mods. but most youtubers have no concern for modders. if they can come here and take their sweet time finding the best mods, they should be able to do this . not a big deal. this is not a restriction. its a measure taken to prevent things like that.

In line with what Shenron said actually, it's entirely possible that people aren't getting their mods from here anyway. I remember a lot of the time when people were modding Warcraft, and even more recently when people were modding Skyrim, they just passed the files along to their friends, and if people wanted to share them with the public, they just threw them up on a file sharing website or Dropbox or something. Sure, there were these giant collections like Nexusmods and the Steam Workshop, but, as hard as it might be to believe, some people were still unaware of or simply did not use those services. So it might be worth keeping in mind that people might not be coming here for their mods anyway. Not to mention that anything outside of this forum can't really be enforced anyway, because this is The Internet. Sure, maybe around here it would be nice for everyone to share and credit and all that, but if people that aren't affiliated with the forum are sharing mods on YouTube, there's practically nothing that can be done.
