Tutorial by White Lord
What you need:
Cheat Engine
Start Dragon Ball Xenoverse and then Cheat Engine.
In the game go to Offline Battles or Parallel Quests.
Once you are at the character select screen in the game don't select a character but do this.
Go to Cheat Engine by press Shift + Tab.
You need to attach Dragon Ball Xenoverse Process to "Cheat Engine"
Click the little flickering PC icon (might not flicker at all but should)
A list of processes will show...select "DBXV.exe".
Now you have attached the game to the Cheat Engine.
Go to search and highlight value type. Select "String"
Type your profile name EXACTLY as you wrote it when you created it ... in my case it is White Lord.
Now press "First Scan" and a small number of results should popup depending on your profile name.
Now only one of the results is THE ONE you need. Don't worry it usually starts with 0D and is always the fifth result from top-bottom (well at least in my case lol)
In case it isn't just make sure to see similar result by clicking "Browse This Memory Region" right clicking the result with your mouse.

After clicking "Browse this Memory Region" you will see this....
I highlighted the area where you should by default be.
Now the important part is the next one.
If the result you browse is the right one you will see a number of FFFFFFF filled areas in this region around your profile name and elsewhere.
Use Calculator in "Programmer " HEX mode in order to subtract addresses.
This is what you should do. Now below are the character id's
2C - GREAT APE Vegeta
2D - GREAT APE Bardock
2E - Great Ape Baby
35 - Demigra
36 - Demigra Final
38 - SHENRON - CRASH WHEN PLAYER CONTROL
39 - SUPREME KAI OF TIME
3E - MIRA
3F - TOWA
42 - UNKNOWN CHARACTER - SOME POD LIKE
4A - GREAT APE NAPPA!
4B - IMPERFECT CELL
4C - TOKI TOKI LOL
4D - BIG TOKI TOKI
Replace the custom character slot modifier address id with one of the above ids and you will get your chosen NPC/Boss on the character select screen.
Note that the code is DMA so it won't work anymore after you QUIT the game. You have to repeat the progress each time
