SOLVED! Getting preorder bonuses without preordering... Apr 29, 2015 2:28:20 GMT

In case it matters, I'm using the Steam version of the game (v1.05), with both DLCs 1 and 2 installed.

I had to cut the title somewhat short due to the character limit. I'm using the data2.cpk file that HulktySSJ2 so graciously provided here and transferring some of it to my corresponding file, in the hopes of activating the preorder bonus DLC that he has and I do not have. This DLC includes playable SSJ4 Vegeta (with a character ID of VG4) as well as gold and crystal battle armors (with clothing IDs of 700 and 701, respectively). Not knowing that much about the internal structure of the game, I simply copied over every file that included "VG4", "700", and "701" in its name (with the exception of included mod files that make Vegeta look like a SSJ5). I then repacked my data2 with the new files and put it in my DBXV directory.

The game boots up just fine and functions correctly, except that the aforementioned bonuses are nowhere to be found. I used a save editor to place the battle armors in my inventory, but they simply don't appear, even if I make them the only armor in my inventory. It did the same thing before I ever tried altering data2. Likewise, SSJ4 Vegeta is not in the roster for either offline battle or parallel quests.

Obviously, there's some more files I need in order to make all the VG4/700/701 files actually do something, but I have no way of knowing what they are. Would someone mind looking through Hulkty's folder and seeing if anything jumps out as necessary?

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear: It NEVER worked in regards to the preorder bonuses. I tried just using your data2 file wholesale, mods and all, but the game crashed on loading up. Considering I only wanted the official content anyway, I decided to try the piecemeal approach described in the OP. When I said "functions correctly", I mean the game didn't crash or glitch up because of the altered data2. The only problem is that the bonuses are not present, which I took as an indicator that I'm missing something I can't identify. Would it help if I listed every file I copied over?

The only system files in his data2 are "aura_setting.aur" and "custom_skill.cus". Neither of those seemed relevant.

As Titan said, the models are in all copies of the game downloaded by everybody so you can see it worn by people with the pre order. The dlc works the same. If you didn't have them, you'd either see only floating heads in the multi hub from those wearing the gold and platinum suits,or plain get an error. I assume the whole pre order thing is in one of the system files, probably with an obscure file extension so we can't tamper with it easily. The command would be something like 'Pre order = 1' or something like that. It's an assumption but it's what I think at the moment.

but hey it will be possible when we crack that file. dont lose hope yet. but we can do this. we can replace vegeta with ssj4 vegeta files and audio so you ll have a playable ssj4 vegeta. simple swaps

Bamco is giving away a limited amount of Pre order unlock codes for the consoles,(which I admit is rare of them to do that) so we already know the structure to officially unlock those is in place. The rest is to hope that we get a PC version of those codes one of these days.

In the meantime, mods are your friends.

Hey guys, I found a way to do it! The more educated ones here will have to figure out the particulars of how this works, but I can confirm that it does work. Some of the below steps may be extraneous. I'm just reporting what I did.

Step 1: Download these two file packs.
Step 2: Back up the files in you XV directory, just in case.
Step 3: From the second pack, copy "3DMGAME.ini", "steam_api.dll", "datap2.cpk", "DBXV.exe", and "xgcore.dll" into your XV directory, overwriting when asked.
Step 4: From the first pack, copy "steam_api.cdx" into your XV directory.
Step 5: The hard part. You need to merge the "data2.cpk" files and the "datap1.cpk" files from the two packs. I used CPKPack to extract the two data2 files into two separate folders, I then copied the contents of the second folder (meaning the one extracted from the second file pack in step 1) into the first, overwriting when asked. I then repacked the combined folder into a new data2.cpk. I then repeated the exact same process for datap1.cpk. Copy the new CPK files into your XV directory.

This moves the reference point of your savegame to a subfolder of you XV directory, specifically Steam\SteamApps\common\DB Xenoverse\3DMGAME\3DMGAME\remote\. Aside from this minor inconvenience, it works perfectly, so far as I've tested it.

EDIT: I accidentally wrote down the wrong filenames. I've fixed them above.
